FAQ
Straight answers
The legal ones are written in plain language on purpose. They describe how the product works and why; they are not legal advice.
- Is this gambling?
- No. Nobody pays to play and nobody is paid for winning. Units are points inside a game: they have no cash value, cannot be bought, sold, transferred or redeemed, and there is no mechanism to move them between people. Gambling laws generally require both a stake of value and a prize of value; this product has neither. That is our understanding, not legal advice, and it is why we keep money out of the product entirely.
- Can our league collect dues or pay out prizes through the app?
- No, and the Terms prohibit using the product to organize money play. There is no fee collection, pot, buy-in or settle-up feature, and chat filters payment-app links. Office pools that involve money are regulated differently in many states; keeping money out keeps the product simple and keeps commissioners out of that question.
- Do I have to be 18?
- Yes. You confirm you are 18 or older when you create an account and before you place a bet. We do not collect government ID, your location or a phone number, because there is no money involved.
- Where do the lines come from?
- From a licensed odds data provider that publishes the lines of major regulated US sportsbooks. We display them and lock the one you pick; we never set or shade a line ourselves. Each ticket shows the book the line came from and the time you placed it.
- What happens when a game is postponed or a line is pulled?
- Bets on a game that does not start within the league's window (24 hours for football by default) are voided and the units returned, which is what OFP did too. If a book pulls a line before you confirm, the slip tells you and nothing is placed.
- Can I bring my OfficeFootballPool history?
- Yes. Export or type up last season's names, records and totals, upload the CSV from Settings → Import, check the preview and confirm. Prior seasons are stored with the league and starting balances can be set from the file. We cannot pull data from OFP or Splash directly; no third party can.
- Which sports are available?
- NFL and college football at launch. NBA, NHL, college basketball and MLB are planned next, with the same lines, parlays and grading. Commissioners choose which sports their league uses.
- Is there an app?
- It is a web app you can install from your browser (Add to Home Screen on iPhone and Android). Installed, it gets push notifications for bet results, lock reminders and mentions, and it never forces an update in the middle of a game.
- What do you collect and who sees it?
- Your email, a display name and product analytics about how the app is used. Email is only visible to you and the platform; league members see your display name. We do not sell data. Email support to delete your account; we anonymize your profile while keeping league records consistent.
- Who answers when something breaks on a Sunday?
- A person. Support is by email and an in-app form, and during the season we aim to respond within two hours on game days. There is no AI-only support queue.
- Will prices change mid-season?
- No. Season 1 is free for every league and those leagues stay free. Paid tiers are published on the pricing page before they exist and never change during a season.
